Battlefield 3 game for PC platform

Slowly and gradually we foresee the eventual demise of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. Even the PC game developers have slowly started moving towards DirectX 11 instead of staying with Windows XP with DirectX 9. Now with the new year set in, gamers have been pondering on whether the upcoming PC games would support Windows XP or not. There have been a lot of rumors on whether the upcoming games would be PC exclusive or not.

DICE had clarified on July 31 that Battlefield 3 game for PC platform will not run on Windows XP and won't support Direct 9 APIs. DICE Sweden's rendering architect Johan Andersson had shared the update via Twitter, the micro-blogging service.

David Goldfarb, lead designer and writer at DICE for Battlefield 3, clarified via Twitter: it (BF3) will not be exclusive. We are putting special effort into the pc version, even for us, it's extraordinary. So anticipate the game to be released for Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well.

Electronic Arts DICE Sweden studio is undertaking the development of Battlefield 3 on the Frostbite 2 engine that supports DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 APIs. Though Andersson doesn't dismiss Windows XP as the gaming platform, it's a gentle reminder to update your operating system with Windows 7 to enjoy the best graphics and game physics. In the Twitter update Andersson said:

"Frostbite 2 is primarily developed for DX11. XP & DX9 is _not_ supported, 64-bit OS is recommended."

The game developer had showcased the new Frostbite 2.0 game engine at the SIGGRAPH in May 2010. Looks like gamers running 64-bit version Windows 7 with 4GB DDR3 RAM and powerful graphics card would be eager to get their hands on the Battlefield 3 beta. But the super perfectionist DICE will take its own sweet time and publisher EA expects the game to release in the third or fourth quarter of this year.

Valkyria Chronicles 3

School's out for summer: Valkyria Chronicles III ditches the second game’s academic focus (which had you juggling schoolwork with military missions) in favour of a better story, more strategic gameplay and a bigger, better portable experience.

For example, any soldier can swap between classes just by changing their weapon, meaning you won’t have to rely on having a specific sniper, gunner, or rocket launcher dude in every mission. Still, each character has their own special ability and earn bonuses when kept in their default class, so think wisely before hot swapping loadouts.

And character levelling is so much more in-depth. You can level up the whole squad, and then go in and tweak each warrior through a branching tech tree, and outfit then with special buffs and nerfs to further customise each unit. Heavy stuff.

The anime-inspired game has a confirmed release date of January 27th for Japan, but no sight nor sound of an English version of the game. Its mixture of Japanese art, tough tactics, and a bizarre semi-fictional tale makes it a very niche title, but it also holds a fervent fanbase itching to get its hands on the next release.

Mortal Kombat HD 'Arcade Kollection' has reared its head again

The rumoured Mortal Kombat HD 'Arcade Kollection' has reared its head again, this time via the CV of a freelance 3D artist.

According to the resume, the beat-em-up pack is indeed a real thing and will be released for PlayStation 3.

The title was previously outed last summer when a pair of retailers listed it for release on PS3. According to last year's listings, the game would be released on October 12, 2010 with a recommended retail price of £19.99... which obviously didn't happen.

The MK team is of course currently at work on a new title which returns to the series' M-rated roots and is built for the 'hardcore' player.

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood More Free Stuff

Ubisoft just released another free downloadable content update for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood for the Xbox 360 and PS3. In the Animus Project 2.0 a brand new game mode and map for your killing pleasure. The Pienza provides a free running playground that gives ample opportunity for the cat and mouse tactics of your high level Assassin's Creed Brotherhood skills. Also included in the update is the Chest Capture mode. Here two teams with three players each will do battle to defend and capture chests. The attackers must use the heads up display to locate and capture the chests, while the defenders must obviously stop them.

Ubisoft also implemented a new scoring system for the game as well. Your Templar Score will now reflect your Assassin abilities and you wont just be judged by your rank. Scores will update weekly and should do well maintain a competitive environment in the multiplayer.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta (Sony)

Visually visceral and gorgeously gory, Ghost of Sparta cranks the PSP up to 11 with a drop dead beautiful game that shows exactly what the little machine is capable of.

How Ready at Dawn managed to top its own efforts and make a game deeper, longer and prettier than Chains of Olympus is anyone’s guess, but the studio pulled it off.

God of War is filled to the brim with satisfyingly feral combat, armfuls of combos, and breathtaking boss fights, culminating in an epic hack and slash every bit as impressive as its console brethren.

If this is the PSP’s last hurrah, it will be one big, bloody, beautiful hurrah for the system.

Valkyria Chronicles II (Sega)

Did you know World War II was fought by wide-eyed manga kids in skimpy military outfits? So says this strategic PSP shooter, which marries Japanese anime visuals with a tactical war game, and a little bit of a Persona-inspired school simulator on the side

The game is a mix of both strategic planning, as you command your troops around the battlefield from a top-down commander's perspective, and action, as you jump into the shoes of your soldiers and take down enemies as in a third-person shooter.

It’s addictive, smart and satisfying, calling on your wits as much as the dexterity of your digits.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (Konami)

Forget collectible card-battling spin-offs - this here’s the real deal. Slotting into the series canon and directed by Metal Gear daddy Hideo Kojima, Peace Walker is every bit as Solid as its PS2 and PS3 cousins.

Set in a 1974 Costa Rica, about ten years before Snake Eater’s events kick off, the game has Big Boss running a mercenary unit to sort out the civil war tussle plaguing the country.

This is one seriously massive game, featuring a giant Story mode as long and confusing as its console predecessors, as well as co-op play, versus matches, standalone challenges, and a strategic team-building simulator.

It’s a top notch stealth title, and it likely won’t leave your UMD slot for months and months.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 (Sony)

If not Game of the Year, SOCOM deserves some kind of award for its name alone. Most acronyms? Biggest mouthful? Hardest to remember? Fittingly, SOCOM is a massive, deep package that has almost as many modes as it does words in its title. Almost.

There’s an extensive single-player campaign, the ability to team up with a buddy to play co-op, online multiplayer deathmatches, and custom designed missions, making the entire package almost infinite in its replayability.

It’s also a smart, tactical shooter the provides the perfect antidote to bombastic, TNT-packed firefights present in other military blasters.

Wii sales account for around 90 percent of the total, GamesRadar reports, and Ubisoft is planning to release Blood on the Dance Floor

Our pals at Official Nintendo Magazine weren't blown away by Michael Jackson: The Experience, but the dance title has sold over two million copies since it launched for Wii, DS and PSP in November, according to publisher Ubisoft.

Wii sales account for around 90 percent of the total, GamesRadar reports, and Ubisoft is planning to release Blood on the Dance Floor and I Just Can't Stop Loving You soon as downloadable tracks soon.

Ubisoft has also said that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, which support Move and Kinect respectively, will launch on April 12 in the US and two days later in Europe.

Is this Ubisoft's new Just Dance, one of the most successful third party games on Wii?

Dante's Inferno (A2M)

Dante’s Inferno might have little to do with a certain 14th century poem by the same name, but it’s still a rather stellar God of War clone, with developer A2M managing to squeeze the console game onto handheld with alarming success.

It’s a perfect, lengthy treat for anyone still craving button-mashy, blood-soaked action-adventure carnage. Dante’s Inferno doesn’t hit quite the same highs as Kratos’s campaign, but if you want a hack and slash edition of the Divine Comedy, filled with demon babies and giant nightmare boobs, you can’t really go wrong.

Sick of slow and stodgy role-playing games that crawl through stat-swapping battles and epically boring background exposition?

Half Minute Hero
is the cure, throwing every element of classic RPGs into a blender and shooting it out in thirty second bursts.

You sprint around over-worlds, take out fantasy beasties by running into them, and swap out armour and weapons for better versions with a tap of a button.

It turns genre conventions on their heads, and does it all with its tongue planted firmly in its cheek. Half Minute Hero is fun, addictive, and rather hilarious.

(Parasite Eve) The 3rd Birthday

It’s been a long time coming but the third instalment in Square Enix’s popular franchise, Parasite Eve, is nearly here. 11 years since the last game graced our PlayStations, it’s time for series protagonist Aya to save the world, while wearing a skimpy little number, once again.

The crux of this over-the-shoulder shooter is the ability to leap into the bones of other characters, using Aya’s special Overdrive ability. This way, you can pop in to a team member’s body, or even have a stint inside one your twisted tentacled enemies to find out how they tick.

And listen up, boys, if you want to see some digital skin this is one PSP game you don’t want to miss. Not only does Aya get a steamy shower scene (because fans demanded it, apparently), but the princess of death will see her clothes ripped to shreds when beaten up in battle. Sigh.

The 3rd Birthday is actually a very late 2010 release in Japan, but we’ll have to wait until the new year for our hotly anticipated English translation. Publisher Square says some time in “Q1 2011”.

Nintendo's Pokemon Black/White was Japan's top-selling video game in 2010

Nintendo's Pokemon Black/White was Japan's top-selling video game in 2010, thought Sony's PSP barely edged out a declining Nintendo DS to lead game hardware sales in the country.

Statistics compiled by ASCII (and translated by 1UP) through December 27 show Nintendo's latest paired Pokemon titles selling over 4.7 million copies in 2010.

The Pokemon releases led a stable of four Nintendo-published games in the top 10 list, including 2009 release New Super Mario Bros. Wii which sold over 1.6 million copies in 2010 to become the Wii's first four-million seller in the country.

Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 3rd took second place in the yearly sales with over 3.1 million units while two Square Enix Dragon Quest games took fifth and sixth place with over a million sales each.

In game hardware, the PSP was the only system to sell more units in 2010 than 2009, rising 28 percent to sell through 2.729 million units in 2010. Nintendo DS sales rates fell just as sharply, down 28 percent from 2009's mark to represent 2.719 million sales in 2010.

The Wii remained the country's best-selling home console, though sales were down nearly 9 percent over 2009 to just over 1.59 million sales in 2010. PS3 sales fell by a similar 7.6 percent to 1.54 million sales for 2010.

Both systems easily outsold Microsoft's Xbox 360, which was down nearly 24 percent for the year with just over 231,000 sales. The PS2 was practically a non-factor in the Japanese market in 2010, down nearly 58 percent to repesent just over 83,000 sales in 2010.

Full lists of the top-selling Japanese game software and hardware for 2010 are as follows:

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy Duodecim

Finally, the game to answer our schoolyard brawls over who would win in a fight: Final Fantasy 12’s fancy nancy androgynous blondie Vaan, or Final Fantasy 7’s busty boob-tubed knuckle duster Tifa Lockhart.

Following on from the addictive, satisfying tussles of the first Dissidia game, the unfortunately named 012 Duodecim sequel lets you pit enemies and heroes alike of Square’s illustrious Final Fantasy franchise in one-on-one fist (and sword and magic and gun) fights to the death.

Instead of Dissidia’s simplistic, chess-like map, 012 Dodecahedron's single-player campaign takes you through an RPG-style story mode, actually letting you explore 3D worlds with two other fantasy pugilists in tow. There are also shops, non-player characters to natter to and plenty of different areas to visit.

Right now, Square’s got 012 DoodleJump lined up for a vague spring 2011 release, and five brawlers have been announced: Kain Highwind, Tifa, VIII’s Laguna, Vaan and new chick on the block, Lightning, from the recently released Final Fantasy XIII.

Sengoku Basara film will open on June 4

The official Twitter accounts of ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Online website and one of its staff members revealed that the Sengoku Basara film will open on June 4. There will also be a new piece of software called Sengoku Basara Chronicle Heroes for the Sony PSP portable game console this summer. More details will be posted in a future Dengeki Online article.

The final episode of the Sengoku Basara Two samurai action anime aired last September with an announcement that production on an all-new theatrical film had been green-lit. The North American anime distributor Funimation released the complete first television anime season of Sengoku Basara on DVD in October, and it also streamed Sengoku Basara Two last year.

[Via livedoor (expired link), Uri-Sure Matome +]

Update: MyCom Journal reports from the "Sengoku Basara 5th Anniversary Festival ~Budōkan Party~" in Tokyo on Monday. The story of the film is set after the conflict instigated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi ended, but not before the Battle of Sekigahara determines who shall be the Shogun of Japan.

Kazuya Nomura (Sengoku Basara Two) is directing off a script by Yasuyuki Muto (Sengoku Basara, Mobile Suit Gundam UC). Tooru Ookubo is returning as the character designer and chief animation director for the movie version at Production I.G. Voice actors Kazuya Nakai (Date Masamune), Souichiro Hoshi (Sanada Yukimura), Toru Ohkawa (Ieyasu Tokugawa), Tomokazu Seki (Ishida Mitsunari) also reprise their respective roles.

Los 5 mejores juegos de PC del 2010

5. STALKER: Call of Pripyat (Mundial de GSC Game)

Bejeweled 3's new features or IPOP

PopCap co-founder and Chief Creative Director Jason Kapalka gives the inside scoop on Bejeweled 3's new features, and confesses that his mother's approval is the ultimate measure of success for this new version of the classic gem-swapping game. Aw, isn't that sweet.

bejeweled 3 from popcapOK, so let's talk about some of Bejeweled 3's new features. There's a Quest mode. Would you say that's one of the big new features for the game?

Yes, that's definitely one of the big ones. We're not trying to make a full-blown role-playing game or anything like that. It's kind of more of a structure for a series of challenges and variances for the game. There's a whole bunch of crazy Bejeweled variances we were playing around with, and we put in the quest mode as a framework to put them in there. So the structure is that we're trying to restore some various artifacts and to do so you have to play these different kinds of Bejeweled variants, that in some cases they are only minor variants on the Bejeweled rules, like you only have 10 moves or something like that to release a jewel.

What are some examples of the Bejeweled 'variants' in the new Quest mode?

There's a balance mode where you have a pendulum that goes back and forth depending on which color of gems you are clearing, if you tilt it too far one way or the other you lose, so you have to decide which gems to match to keep the thing balanced. There's Ice Storm, where you have these rising colors of ice that are going up and you have to knock them by making matches before they get to the top. There's Diamond Mine which is kind of the one where you're digging, and you're clearing dirt by clearing gems and the more you do you dig down further and further and find treasures and so forth. There's Butterflies -- which is a pretty interesting one -- where you have these jeweled butterflies that are moving up from the bottom towards the top where there's a big spider, and you're trying to clear them off the board to freedom or before they get to the top where the spider will eat them.

Are those your favorites in the new game?

Yeah, there's a couple that are actually – the Secret one or those Quest ones. There's some of them that are entertaining once or twice; I wouldn't want to play them repeatedly. There's other ones that are actually pretty compelling, and we've made those into separate game modes. So once you've played for a little bit, you unlock them as a full mode you can play.

Is that what the oh-so mysterious 'secret games' are in Bejeweled 3?

Yeah. The secret games are basically some of the variants of Bejeweled. The more unusual ones that we thought were the really cool ones that you wanted to play over and over again. And so once you've progressed a little way through the game, they're unlocked so you can just go back and play them in sort of a perpetual mode, as you would with the other versions, like Classic skill and so forth.

OK. I also noticed that there's going to be a new badge system in the game.

Yeah. It's not exactly ... it's kind of new. I wish I could say it's super radically awesome cool. We had something like that in the PC version of Bejeweled Blitz. It's sort of an achievement system. The only thing – you get these badges for doing various things, and there's different levels of badges, and there's elite badges for doing really tough things.

How tough are the 'tough' badges?

A really tough badge would be Super Nova Gem, which is a kind of gem that exists in the game but it's one of these we don't even tell people about it because it's nearly impossible to make. You have to get six gems in a row. And it's quite hard to do that. You either need to have an incredibly lucky hall of gems, or you need to engineer an extremely difficult combination of gems so those fall together and make a sixth gem combination. And a Super Nova Gem does a humongous explosion, so that's kind of cool. It's mostly just an achievement to see if you can actually get such a thing.

How many badges are there going to be in the game?

Oh gosh. There's a bunch. There's dozens. I would say there's dozens and dozens.

Bejeweled Blitz came out and we got obsessed with being able to do more than one match at one time. Is that also going to be in the game?

Oh yeah. We kind of used a lot of the Bejeweled Blitz basic physics and mechanics of it. Kind of carried into Bejeweled 3 here. Like Blitz, the visuals and all the special effects and stuff are pretty cranked up. It's full HD displays and accelerated explosions and more tunnels and so on.

Do you think that will go over well with the traditional Bejeweled fan?

I believe so. I think that when we put out Bejeweled 2 in 2004, at the time, for the casual game market, it was actually a bit over the top. I remember people telling us things like, 'Why is your game 1024 by 768? That resolution is way too big. Casual players are never going to need that hi-res." And that may be true -- that may be overkill for some people -- but in some ways it also kind of allows for future-proofing. Down the road another year or two, it will still probably look good, we hope. And of course it can be played at a lower resolution and smaller and you can resize the windows freely and just play on low-end computers, so that is a pretty important part. We are trying to support both casual players and people who have a fancier machine, so they can also enjoy more stuff. Bejeweled 2 is six years old.

What's your definition of success for a game like Bejeweled 3?

Honestly, Bejeweled 3 was, in some ways, a game we made for my Mom. And my Mom is a big Bejeweled fan, but, you know what, she doesn't use Facebook, she doesn't want to use Facebook, she doesn't want to play Bejeweled Blitz. So she's been looking at Bejeweled where, so, she's been playing stuff on, you know, 2004 kinds of things. So, you know, [Bejeweled 3] was a game that we kind of made for people like her, who kind of like Bejeweled, but have been kind of left a bit high and dry for awhile, as far as getting something new.

So if your mom likes Bejeweled 3, then you'll consider it successful?

Well, yeah, it's actually not a bad way of looking at it. [Laughs]

How many additions in the game are based on things that fans requested?

There is definitely a number of things in there that are a result of what people liked or didn't like in earlier versions. So for example, we've got one in there called Lightning Mode, which is influenced by Bejeweled Blitz. It's not exactly Bejeweled, because we didn't want to just duplicate that. It's sort of a very fast-paced, time-based kind of game. It is different from Blitz in a couple ways, in that you, it can last longer than a minute. You can kind of collect these time gems that will extend your game. And it's kind of got a sort of a stage thing, where you go up in rounds, and each round is worth more points, and so forth. So, that was definitely influenced by Blitz, because we figured that, you know, the players who are playing Bejeweled Blitz, of which, there are quite a few now.

Does Bejeweled 3 have any kind of social media integration that, you know, if you get a high score, can you put it on Twitter, or anything like that?

To be honest, right now, no. But it'll probably get stuff like that in the future. We're trying to figure out how to kind of do these things in a way that, kind of makes sense. And it didn't seem to make sense, Bejeweled 3 is kind of, more of a, single player game.

Now, that doesn't mean that, in fact, it's quite likely that, aspects of Bejeweled 3 will start to resurface, in other parts of. So, might, you start seeing some of those kinds of variant games, you know, as part of, you know, iPhone Bejeweled, or Bejeweled Blitz. And that seems quite possible.

You know, one thing I didn't really see in the trailer, were remnants of Bejeweled Twist. Is there any reason for that?

There are some places you'll see Bejeweled Twist resurfacing, but not in [Bejeweled 3]. There are some games coming out the next couple months, where, I will, I don't know if I, I'd probably better not announce anything.

I would say that Twist is not dead. There will be more twisting. There will be more twisting coming, but our feeling was that Twist was a little bit more of a hard-core mechanic. [Yeah] And so we're going to try to move that into a product where those kinds of players are more likely to enjoy it.

Downloadable casual games have been taking a hit and a lot of people have blamed that on social gaming. Do you think this will affect how Bejeweled 3 is received?

It's definitely a factor. Yeah, I mean download space is, it's getting a lot tougher. I wouldn't say it's necessarily going downhill, but it's certainly flattening.

On the other hand, it's kind of a complex equation. Last year was our best year for retail. We're doing very well with boxes in retail stores. That's not exactly the sexy new social game story. There are a lot of people out there who are still buying their games in places like Wal-Mart, and so you know, we've been doing pretty good there.

Now it's not something that is a news story, but – and it's true that in general PC retail sales, especially for AAA games are not looking too good. But it has been doing pretty well for us. Downloadable are also, it's definitely a sign of it's changing. And I would say, in the future – as you can see from the kinds of products we're doing now, we're trying to – I wouldn't say move away from it, -- but I would say branch out from it.

When you look at some of our other games, what we find, the good thing about the PC is that it's a pretty good spot for testing things out and seeing how they work, and developing for that in a way that helps the other platforms. So, Plants vs. Zombies, if we started doing a count of where it's been played, probably by now you'd see that a lot more people have played it on iPhone or iPad or Xbox or something like that than have played it online. But would it have existed on those platforms if it hadn't been on PC first? Probably not. We provided a good spot for that game to come out. It was a pretty high risk game and it was a good spot to develop something where you weren't worried about a lot of the crazy technological issues, platform issues and so forth. And then going from there to these other platforms was actually relatively easy, comparatively. And when we went to iPhone, people were already quite aware of Plants vs. Zombies from PC, and so forth. And so that kind of helped get it out there.

Touch Hockey: FS5 (FREE) Doodle Hangman iBasket Free Mega Jump Texas Poker

Combat Wings: Pacific Heroes

Sistema operativo: Windows
Memoria ram: 128 MB
Procesador. Pentium IiI a 600 MHz
